Hemp 101

Hemp dosing can be different for every person. Finding the appropriate Hemp amount is a personal, individual process, and as such, there is no “one-size-fits-all” dose.

It’s Important to understand how Hemp works. Our bodies already produce cannabinoids-known as endocannabinoids, naturally.  Additionally, our bodies contain CB1 and CB2 receptors, which the naturally produced cannabinoids bind to as part of the natural process of the human body to regulate sleep, mood, appetite, memory, reproduction, and fertility. This is known as the Endocannabinoid system or ECS. When we see an increase in disorders in these areas then it means our body is not producing enough endocannabinoids. When we take Hemp, it reinforces, replenishes, activates, and nourishes our CB1 and CB2 receptors.

How Do You Know How Much Hemp to Take?

Because there is no recommended dose, and every person’s needs are different, this information is intended to serve only as an informational guide – a starting point of reference – and should never be considered medical advice.  When it comes to cannabinoids, there is one universal truth to keep in mind: Everyone is different. There are countless variables such as weight, diet, metabolism, genetics, environment, product consistency, and more that make a universally prescribed dosage an impossibility.

It is important to understand that it does not begin to work instantly. For some people, depending on their condition it may take 1-3 days to feel the desired effects while others it may take up to 2-4 weeks. This is also why we suggest using different forms of Hemp such as a tincture or oil, and gummies.  This creates an “entourage effect” to enhance your entire ECS system. Be consistent, patient, and increase your dose slowly if needed.

As a general rule you should start low with Hemp and gradually adjust your dosage, building up to find a level that works perfectly for you. If you are new to your Hemp journey, we suggest you start with a low dose of 10-20mg per day. You can use the measurements located on the dropper and apply the Hemp Oil Drops underneath your tongue or taking one Hemp Gummies daily.

After 5 days if there are no results, then we recommend increasing your dose slowly, every two to three days, and only 5-10mg at a time. You can increase your daily Hemp oil or by adding one gummy in the morning and one gummy in the evening; until you feel ready to increase.

If your condition is somewhat serious then it is reasonable to start with higher doses.

For individuals who have light to moderate symptoms, a dosage of 10-20mg of Hemp per day can be enough to feel the desired effects and results.

For individuals who are more consistent in using Hemp products we suggest 25mg of Hemp, taken twice daily.  Additionally, you can incrementally increase the amount of Hemp you take every 3-4 weeks by 25mg until you attain symptom relief (inversely, decrease by 25mg if symptoms worsen).

How Do You Take Hemp Oil?

The best way to take Hemp oil is to apply it directly underneath your tongue. Hold it there for around 90 seconds before swallowing, giving time for the Hemp oil to absorb as much as possible. Sublingual application allows the Hemp to pass through the mucous membrane underneath your tongue, where the Hemp can fast-track its way into your bloodstream.

While Hemp oils is one popular way to take Hemp supplements, Hemp gummies are a great alternative for easy, pre-measured dosage.

What’s The Difference Between Hemp and THC?

Hemp and THC are both found in cannabis plants, but the way they interact with your body is different. Both compounds interact with your body’s endocannabinoid system, but they have very different effects. This is known as the Endocannabinoid system or ECS. Our bodies contain CB1 and CB2 receptors, which the naturally produced cannabinoids bind to as part of the natural process of the human body.

When people hear about a compound derived from hemp, some can mistakenly assume that Hemp may make them feel ‘high’, but this is only true when THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) is involved. THC is responsible for the psychoactive states associated with consuming cannabis because it binds with the cannabinoid 1 (CB1) receptors in the brain.

Hemp binds very weakly, if at all, to CB1 receptors. Hemp needs THC to bind to the CB1 receptor and, in turn, can help reduce some of the unwanted psychoactive effects of THC, such as euphoria or sedation.

What is Hemp Oil?

Hemp’s leaves are abundant in Hemp, so it’s a great natural source for Hemp. However, its seeds are not, meaning if you see ‘hemp oil’ or ‘hemp seed oil’ for sale, you shouldn’t confuse it with Hemp oil.

HONA Hemp products are hemp-derived Hemp, and our extraction process allows us to retain more cannabinoids & terpenes while removing all unwanted impurities to produce a rich pure Hemp oil. Exceptional quality and benefits are top priority, so you can be confident you’re getting a premium product utilizing non-GMO hemp plants grown right here in the USA.

How Long Does Hemp Stay in the System?

One of the many benefits of Hemp is that its results are long-lasting, namely because it takes a while for the enzymes in your body to metabolize it. There are a number of factors that affect how long Hemp stays in your system, including the amount of food you eat, how much Hemp you use, how often you use it and, of course, your genetic make-up.
